美國紐約州立大學(xué)水牛城分校退休華裔物理學(xué)榮譽(yù)教授林良多(Duo-Liang Lin)在美國《華盛頓郵報(bào)》上發(fā)表了一首英文詩《你們究竟要我們?cè)鯓由?？》，隨后在互聯(lián)網(wǎng)上熱傳并引起中西方網(wǎng)友熱議。這首詩表達(dá)了許多美籍華人長期以來內(nèi)心的壓抑和憤慨，因此被評(píng)論為是多年來受到雙重標(biāo)準(zhǔn)困擾的海外華人向西方偏見“射出的一記利箭”。該詩全文翻譯如下：

當(dāng)我們是東亞病夫時(shí)，我們被說成是黃禍；
當(dāng)我們被預(yù)言將成為超級(jí)大國時(shí)，又被稱為主要威脅。
當(dāng)我們閉關(guān)自守時(shí)，你們走私鴉片強(qiáng)開門戶；
當(dāng)我們擁抱自由貿(mào)易時(shí)，卻被責(zé)罵搶走了你們的飯碗。
當(dāng)我們風(fēng)雨飄搖時(shí)，你們鐵蹄入侵要求機(jī)會(huì)均等；
當(dāng)我們整合破碎山河時(shí)，你們卻叫囂“給西藏自由”。
當(dāng)我們推行馬列救國時(shí)，你們痛恨我們信仰共產(chǎn)主義；
當(dāng)我們實(shí)行市場(chǎng)經(jīng)濟(jì)時(shí)，你們又嫉妒我們有了資本。
當(dāng)我們的人口超過十億時(shí)，你們說我們摧毀地球；
當(dāng)我們限制人口增長時(shí)，你們又說我們踐踏人權(quán)。
當(dāng)我們一貧如洗時(shí)，你們視我們低賤如狗；
當(dāng)我們借錢給你們時(shí)，你們又埋怨使你們國債累累。
當(dāng)我們發(fā)展工業(yè)時(shí)，你們說我們是污染源；

當(dāng)我們敢于發(fā)聲時(shí)，又被說成是洗過腦的暴民。
我們不禁要問：“為什么你們這樣憎恨我們？”
你們回答說：“不，我們不恨你們?！?/span>
“我們也不恨你們，只是，你們了解我們嗎？”
“當(dāng)然了解，我們消息多的是，有法新社、美國有線新聞網(wǎng)、還有英國廣播公司……”

回答之前請(qǐng)仔細(xì)想一想，因?yàn)槟銈兊臋C(jī)會(huì)是有限的。
夠了，這個(gè)世界已經(jīng)容不下太多的偽善。
我們要的是同一個(gè)世界，同一個(gè)夢(mèng)想，太平盛世。
這個(gè)遼闊的藍(lán)色地球, 容得下你們，也容得下我們。

When we were the sick man of Asia, we were called the yellow peril.
When we are billed to be the next superpower, we are called the threat.
When we closed our doors, you smuggled drugs to open markets.
When we embrace free trade, you blame us for taking away your jobs.
When we were falling apart, you marched in your troops and wanted your fair share.
When we tried to put the broken pieces back together again,free Tibet you screamed, It was an invasion!
When tried communism, you hated us for being communist.
When we embrace capitalism, you hate us for being capitalist.
When we have a billion people, you said we were destroying the planet.
When we tried limiting our numbers, you said we abused human rights.
When we were poor, you thought we were dogs.
When we loan you cash, you blame us for your national debts.
When we build our industries, you call us polluters.

When we buy oil, you call it exploitation and genocide.

When we uphold law and order against violence, you call it violating human rights.
When we were silent, you said you wanted us to have free speech.
When we are silent no more, you say we are brainwashed-xenophobes.
“Why do you hate us so much﹖”we asked.
“No,” you answered, “we don't hate you.”
We don't hate you either, but, do you understand us?
“Of course we do, ”you said, “We have AFP, CNN and BBC's ……”
What do you really want from us?
Think hard first, then answer, Because you only get so many chances.
Enough is enough, enough hypocrisy for this one world.
We want one world, one dream, and peace on earth.
This big blue earth is big enough for all of us.
